Original Google WiFi IPV6 Issue

Hi, I'm after some help, I've been testing different router systems of late, I haven't used my original Google WiFi for a while as it wouldn't allow me to use IPV6. During my testing I tried the system along with the new Nest one and to me delight they BOTH now worked with IPV6 with the new Home app.

I've since sent these different systems back and have decided to keep my original Google WiFi for the moment, I have set it up from scratch but every time I enable the IPV6 option it causes the internet connection to drop and will not come back, all I get is flashing amber light then solid white for a couple of seconds then flashing amber and this pattern repeats endlessly. Turning it on and off and the modem on and off doesn't fix it. I also cannot then go into the settings in the Home app to turn off IPV6 as it won't let me?

The ONLY thing I can then do is to reset the router using the button and set it up again from scratch, I've tried about 4 times now and each one is the same and I end up having to reset the router and set it up from scratch again.

Why would the IPV6 setting work before perfectly fine literally 2 weeks ago, and now it causes an issue so bad I've got to wipe the router configuration and set it up from scratch to get it to work again?

Anyone have any ideas? I didn't have a single IPV6 issue with any of the other routers I tried, Google Nest or Amplifi Alien, I also have a UniFi Dream Machine that has no issues at all with IPV6 in the same modem and line. And yes my ISP uses DHCPv6. I'm in the U.K. my line is a FTTP and has a speed of around 70mbps down and 20mbps up, and it uses BT's equipment in the exchange and roadside box.

Hey, MarkyR74.

Sorry for the delayed response on this and for the issues you're having regarding the IPv6 settings. I'm sure that's quite frustrating to deal with. We've actually seen a few others having similar issues, so it's something we're looking at internally right now. Have you seen any changes in your situation since posting this? We're tracking the issue now and if you have managed to sort things out, I would love to hear what worked for you. If you are still seeing issues, hang in there, we're working on it and I'll share news when I can.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff, thank you for the reply, the issue fixed itself?
All I did was reset the whole thing again and left IPV6 turned off overnight, the following evening I tried turning it on and it worked fine and it has been since, my devices are reporting IPV6 addresses.
It's a really weird one as I did leave it for an hour or 2 during my testing and when I turned on IPV6 I got the lockup again on the router. It's as though it needed several hours instead of 2 hours to configure itself? I didn't change any equipment or my provider.
So you can mark this one as fixed but as to the cause of it I have no idea I'm afraid.

Thanks.

Hi, MarkyR74.

Thanks for letting me know! And yeah, sometimes you can go through all the troubleshooting steps and nothing changes. You go through them again and again, nothing changes. For some crazy reason it's the third or fourth time when things just click. At other times, yes, there can simply just be a delay for things to configure when you're dealing with an ISP, a modem, a router, an app, and whatever else gets added into the mix. As you have this sorted out, I'll go ahead and close up the thread. I'm happy it's working as you need it to!

Thanks.
