Point won’t complete set up; “bits” message times out

I see others have the same issue:  Nest Wi-Fi  point times out on last step of set up.   Everything seemed to go just fine.   Google chat assistant dumped me after suggesting I use a different iPhone, but that didn’t work either.   I’ve tried factory reset, resetting my entire mesh, and deleting the Home app but one of my points just won’t set up.   It was working ok until the other day.

Try to set up secondaries while keeping them close to the primary, then move them later.

Or set them up while being connected by ethernet from primary LAN port to secondary WAN port, then disconnect and move them later.

  • Given you don't have the Nest Wifi add-on points, which does not have ethernet ports.

Or try the method of not using the QR code:

I tried both of your suggestions.   Same result.  Would love other ideas!  BTW, it is a point without an ethernet port.

@TokyoEdo, thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with setting up your Google Wifi. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

 

  • What device are you using? Is it an iPhone or an Android phone?
  • Are you using a VPN?
