A few months ago I migrated it to the new Google Home app and my wifi router and 2 hubs were all there and configured correctly. Having not connected the wifi points for a few months, I am trying to reconnect but cannot.
Google Home finds the device, it gets to the point where it says "preparing mesh", scan the QR code, and then asks Google Home wants to join wifi network setupC5... (hit join), connecting to wifi (at this point my iPhone wifi apparently switches to setup.,. network,, connection failed!
I've been able to go through these steps several times, factory reset the devices, powered off the hub, and it always says connection failed (and at that point the phone is on the setup... network).
Can you help?

Are you trying to simply connect your phone to your Wi-Fi, or are you trying to set it (Nest Wifi) up from scratch? The QR code is not for connecting your phone to Wi-Fi, but for the setup process.
To see current Wi-Fi name (SSID) and passeord, check the Google Home app.

I am trying to set up Nest Wifi. I have the router set up, and trying to connect the other 2 wifi points.

Hi Menter-Cleaver,
There can be a variety of reasons why setup might fail with a certain device. It's possible that the Home app didn't have the proper permissions on your phone, while it had them on the iPad. It could also be something to do with bluetooth or wireless settings on the device. It's not common to have setup fail, but trying on a different device sometimes works out and that's why we suggest it. It's hard to know what the difference between the devices could be without taking a look into the settings of the app on each device. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Jeff

I have this same issue. Router is set up with internet working (typing this out on a pc connected wireless to my home network). I have 3 other nodes that I need to connect and go through the same steps as @JLa1 before I get a connection failed screen. Router/Nodes are model number AC-1304.

Hi folks,
@olavrb, thanks for the help!
@JLa1 and Menter-Cleaver, thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with setting up your Google Wifi points. To isolate the issue, could you check if the local network setting for the Google Home app is enabled on your iPhone? You could find this under your phone's Settings > Privacy > Local Network.
Thanks,
Edward

@EdwardT I’m not sure if the local network trick setting worked but a work around for me was abandoning trying to add the nodes with my iPhone 12 Pro Max with ios15 and in stead added with an old ipad. Think its a first gen iPad Pro. Was able to add each node so now everything is up and running.

I guess I would just like to know why I wasn’t able to set up the nodes on my iPhone but it worked on my ipad.
