Port Forwarding not working

jiaher

I'm planning to set up a WebDAV server at home so that I can access files from the Internet.

I'm currently stuck at port forwarding. Here's what I did:

  1. Purchase a static IP service from my ISP [successful]
  2. Verify with my ISP they are not blocking any ports [successful]
  3. Assign a static IP to my server locally (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6274660?hl=en-SG)) [successful]
  4. Enable port forwarding (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6274503?hl=en-SG) [failed]

In Step 4, I used this service https://canyouseeme.org/ to test the static IP address assigned by my ISP with the port I have configured for forwarding i.e. `443` over TCP/UDP on both External Port and Internal Port, and it says "Connection Refused".

I have done a factory reset following some of the advice on this forum, but it is still the same result.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you run double NAT? If yes, whatever in front of Nest Wifi must be port forwarded too.

Have you asked your ISP whether common ports like 80, 443, 445, 3389 is blocked from their side? That's also possible, both for protecting their customers, and to avoid that people hosts stuff. So try a non-traditional port too?

Not double NAT ... my setup is ONT <-> Google Nest Wifi <-> Mac mini.

I have called up my ISP to confirm if any port is blocked. They said they do not block any.

What about firewall rules on the target device you are port forwarding for? Does it allow incoming traffic originating from the internet?

I have checked my home server, there's no firewall configured to block any ports.

Pinging it remotely gives me the following:
- `nc: connectx to <static_ip> port 443 (tcp) failed: Connection refused`

- `nc: connectx to <static_ip> port 8080 (tcp) failed: Operation timed out`
