Questions about completely scrubbing my existing Google Nest mesh network and starting over

Hi. A little over a year ago, I installed a Google Nest mesh network, consisting of three Nest routers. I went with a routers-only topology so I could take advantage of Nest's ethernet backhaul ability, since my house is also wired with ethernet in every room.

Initially the setup appeared successful, although I could not really tell if the backhaul function was actually working. But all the routers were visible to the Google Home app running on my Android phone (the device I used for initial set up), and we had no trouble connecting our tablets/phones/etc to the new mesh network.

Then a few months ago we had a pretty bad internet crash, lasted for hours. When the network finally came back up, the Mesh was definitely screwed up. A Nest router that I had installed in an upstairs bedroom was no longer visible at all on the Home app. Instead, the Home app now listed a new router in my kitchen, where there is NO router installed. So it appears the bedroom router was "moved" to the kitchen, where we have no Google devices installed.

I thoght the easiest way to repair things would be to just do a factory reset on the bedroom (now "kitchen") router. I assumed this would remove all traces of the device from the existing Mesh,  and then the Home app would invite me to set it up as if it were a new component on the Mesh, at which point I could reassign/"relocate" the router within the Home app to the bedroom.

But when I read the online instructions for resetting Mesh components, it sounds like what I'm attempting will force a whole-mesh scrub, and will therefore require me to set up the entire network from scratch. And maybe that is best, because the whole mesh has been glitchy as heck since all of this started. So my questions are:

1. Should I just bite the bullet and do a whole-mesh scrub, deleting the exisiting Nest mesh and building a new mesh from scratch? and,

2. Re/ backhaul, I assume I should leave the ethernet access unconnected until I have the mesh up an working. True? And is there any test app to confirm that the backhaul is functional?

Thanks for your sage advice---

You are quite right on scrubbing everything.  I have two routers and a number of nodes due to some concrete rooms.  There are times ... Like the last week.... Where the Google overlords decide to completely botch the software, so your power outage might not be the only problem.  Given that the router showed up in the kitchen which tends to be a default location I am guessing that router was fully reset.

As you thought the best option is to just start over!!

Thanks for weighing in on this. in fact i did wipe out the original mesh and started fresh. A lot of busy work to reattach all my ancillary wireless devices to the new mesh, and some of them required router reboots to get them to connect---like my Nest audio speaker--- but we seem to be up and running smoothly again. Thanks---
