Reconnecting Simplisafe base station on Google Fiber Wi-Fi 2.4ghz

I replaced a Simplisafe base station and neither the keypad nor the Simplisafe iOS app could find the new network and guest network I had set up. With earlier problems connecting I had reset the Wi-Fi router and a Wi-Fi point to factory settings and created new network names and passwords (don't use symbols in your Wi-Fi password). 

I could get it to connect so I called Simplisafe Support. Here is what they asked me to do in just three steps. In the base station, unplug the power then remove the small screw in the base and twist the base open. Remove a battery. Without replacing the battery (and I left off the cover)  plug the power back into the base.

The new Wi-Fi network appeared in the keypad in the System Settings and I was able to connect. Unplug the cord, replace the 4th battery you removed, twist the base back on and secure with the small screw. The base should reconnect to your Wi-Fi automatically. Reminder that if you have any other devices like cameras or doorbells, you'll need to reconnect them if you had changed your wireless network name and password as I had.

Make sure you have no VPN enabled/ connected; not any 3rd party product, nor the "Apple iCloud Private Relay" ( https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT212614 ).

Make sure the Google Home app (and whatever other app needed for the setup of Simplisafe device) has been granted permission for "local network access" ( https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/7172427?hl=en ).
