Solar Monitoring Device doesn't stay connected to Nest WiFi

Hi,

I work for a company that installs Enphase solar hardware. A part of this hardware is a device called an 'Envoy' that records how much power the customer draws from the grid and how much solar power they are producing. This device then sends this information to the customer's internet based monitoring platform via a wifi or ethernet connection.

With that background out of the way, I am having particular issues with a job where a customer has a Google Nest mesh network set up. The Envoy can see the Google Nest's wifi network and connect to it without an issue, however an indicator light on the Envoy shows that it only has a local network connection only instead of a full internet connection. I can see from our remote service platform that the Envoy sometimes is getting an internet connection and reporting it's data to the customer, however it is not doing this every 15 minutes as it should be.

The Envoy is also known to have issues with networks that have a band steering feature so I hard wired a wifi access point to the Nest's 'Out' port so that i could ensure that the envoy has a consistent 2.4GHz connection. When I did this, initially the indicator on the Envoy showed a local connection only, however, when I checked it again at a later time the Envoy had maintained a stable connection for over a week and uploaded all of its historical data to the internet. Unfortunately, this only lasted just over a week and the Envoy has not reported since.

I am very confused at to why it seems to get an internet connection sometimes and not other times and would appreciate any advice on the matter.

Distance from the router should not be an issue.

Wiring in a hard ethernet is not an option in this case.

You won't get any meaningful logs from Nest Wifi AFAIK, but maybe you can some logs from the client device in question? Are there any firmware updates available for the client device that could help with network stability? Could there be particular Wi-Fi channels the client device don't like? Or encryption standards?

I don't work for Google.
