Trying to Block Son's Gaming PC at Night

Hi All,

We have Gen 1 Google Wifi.  I am trying to block my son's access to internet at night.  His PC is wired directly to the ethernet port on the main Google Wifi hub.  As far as I can tell, when I select the device in "groups" and have it scheduled to be blocked, it stops working until he does something (reboot?) to get it back on the network.  Over time the device list ends up with dozens of entries for this same PC.

Any tips here?  Am I expecting it to function in a way that it won't or is something wrong?  Thanks

Hello @HDUBS911

Changing the MAC address gets around this without too much difficulty, which reduces the effectiveness of this tool. I had better luck using Microsoft's and Apple's tools that operate at the level of the PC itself. You might look into that, or explore non-technical approaches to solving the problem.

@HDUBS911, how's it going with your Google WiFi? Still need our help?

Thanks,

Hi, everyone.
Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.
Thanks.
