Hi, I need help. I'm unable to reproduce NETFLIX through wifi. It can only stream if connected through Ethernet connected directly to the internet providers modem. It was determined it's the Google Nest Wifi Pro after I called my internet provider as I thought it was their problem but after doing tests with another wifi repeater/extensor where NETFLIX worked fine. Please help me as I cannot connect my two smart tvs through Ethernet rather wirelessly and I really enjoy my Google products and wish not to replace with another brand.

Was looking into this some more, can we try manual DNS for ipv6, using the following (ipv4 are the 4 digit ones on the left, ipV6 on the right). Enter these as before, and reboot the router once done, and see if that does the trick?
1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 |

That makes no sense ... Can you stream Netflix on your phone when it is connected to your wifi? Reboot your nest wifi system .. ensure the Internet is working properly, and try again. I use nest wifi pro system here and Netflix works fine.

any device connected thru my nest wifi will not reproduce/stream NETFLIX..including my phone and laptop but if I connect my laptop directly to the internet provider´s modem via Ethernet I have no problem streaming NETFLIX and yes I have rebooted the nest several times and yes my internet is working fine..

Can you go into Google home, wifi, network settings, advanced. Turn on ipv6 and change the DNS to custom, use cloudflares IP (1.1.1.1 primary and 1.0.0.1 secondary) and reboot nest wifi, give that a try and let me know

I´m in the DNS Settings, Custom and I have four values to fill out. Primary Server, Secondary server and Primary IPV6 server and Secondary IPV6 server.. I have placed the IPs you´ve provided but only allows on the two first options (primary and secondary servers) and left empty the IPV6 values and it does not allow me to continue until I fill out the last two.. I tried repeating the same IPs but it says invalid. Please advise..

You can leave the ipv6 blank for now, Just want to see if this is a DNS issue, ipv4 is what it will be using most likely. you may need to power cycle your router once this is done, then try netflix

I tried but it does not allow me to leave the Primary and Secondary IPV6 server boxes empty, it states in red "Please enter at least one valid IPv6 custom server" and thus does not enable the "OK" option/button to proceed.
12-23-2024 10:48 AM
Okay that's new...turn off ipv6...add the custom DNS .. then turn ipv6 back on.
12-23-2024 01:41 PM
ok, so I did manage with your help to set the custom DNS IPs and enable IPV6, I restarted the network and still facing the same issue (cannot stream NETFILX thru my Google nest vía wifi)😥... I´m thinking of doing a factory reset to the entire network to see if that helps.. I mean.. It was working fine up to a couple days ago.. any other options/steps I should troubleshoot?

sadly no, You are right the next logical step is factory reset the network and try from scratch.
Its very strange indeed... let me know if the factory reset works please!

Hi, just want to report back that factory reset did not work, I downloaded a VPN app to my TVs and Laptop and by doing this bypass this did the trick although I am very disappointed that my nest wifi products cause such hindrance. Thanks for the interest and support.

Okay wait..if a VPN worked then there is def something else going on here that's stopping direct communication. Is your ISPs modem also a router ? If so .. can you change it to gateway only .. ie disable the router function and have it only a modem..and see if that works.

I do have it set as a modem, since I plugged my nest I disabled router function and disabled both 2g and 5g wlan so that only my nest acts as the main router along side another nest as my 2nd point to bring forth the mesh network. Still blocking NETFLIX except when using VPN.

Hi Baco,
Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing while you are trying to reproduce Netflix from WiFi. I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected. But don't worry; help is here. I just need to confirm if you try with the next steps:
1. Try double-checking the following settings:
2. Try casting on Netflix.com by using the Cast button in the video player.
3. Try troubleshooting the app. After each step, check if you're able to cast from Netflix.com.
4. After that you can try with the last steps:
Regards,
Jenny

Hi Jenny, it's been very frustrating and still is, only way to reproduce NETFLIX using my GNestPro is thru a VPN. I'd like to address your TS steps one by one.
- the streaming devices (any i.e. mobile, laptop and tv) are properly connected to my GNetPro home network through Wifi.
- not sure why would I need to install the latest version of Chrome to reproduce a NETFLIX app in all of my devices already mentioned but I went ahead and indulged your suggestion out of curiosity.
- and as expected when trying to cast from NETFLIX.com from my laptop to the tv.. same problem..from starters it didn't even loaded properly in Chrome (as if something blocking it).
- Cleared cache, rebooted.. unplugged and plugged back in..tried with my wife's laptop her mobile and mine as well and same deal.
- hence it isn't our mobiles nor laptops..
- how do I know? Well.. if I unplug the GnestPro and use my ISP as the main wifi router/repeater.. guess what? I can see Netflix on all of my aforementioned devices!
- conclusion; the Google Nest Pro is blocking NETFLIX.
- it's not the devices and it's not my ISP.
THANK YOU THOUGH FOR TRYING TO
HELP OUT.

Hi Baco,
Thanks for your reply and all the information provided. I really appreciate the effort to do all the steps above. I'm sorry for the problem that this can cause. In this case, if you're still completely unable to cast, this means that there is a problem with your Netflix account. At this point, we recommend you contact Netflix for further assistance; they're best equipped to help you with checking the app!
Best regards,
Jenny

Hi Jenny, you´ve probably skipped or not read thoroughly all of my posts and replies.. NETFLIX does not have any issues nor my account with them, I can watch NETFLIX just fine only if I use a VPN or not use my Google Nest Pro at all.. it appears to me that you´re missing the key point here.

Hi there again, so.. you're instructions are spot on although unfortunately rendered the same results. I'll continue to use VPN untill hopefully this fixed itself or if any patch or update comes along. Already tried looking and refreshing for updates but still none. I will leave the current configuration you've kindly suggested for a couple of days to see if this does the trick within time. Will revert back with updates if any. Thanks again and happy new year!

Hi there! Just wanted to circle back.. it's working now without the VPN, I did not do any changes except for your last suggestion and left it be for a while and today voila! It is streaming! Thank you kindly 🙏
