Verizon 5g home internet speed issues google wifi

Jdobbs
Community Member

I have recently installed a Verizon 5g and wish to connect it to my google WiFi.  I can get it connected but it only runs at 25mbs and the Verizon unit is 300 ( WiFi speed test)
I have gone through and done all the NAT,  DCHP, DNS, radio disabling and everything else I can think of except turning on the IP PASSTHROUGH on the Verizon unit as it is harder to disable once turned on.

I can only get 25mbs when connected to the google pucks but get 300 when connected tot the Verizon unit.   Any suggestions???

Hey Jdobbs,

Thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

Are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? What Ethernet cable are you using to connect your modem to your Google Wifi (CAT5 or CAT6)? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Test the speed directly from your modem using an Ethernet cable and a computer.
  2. Make sure that there are minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.)
  3. Set a custom DNS at 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  4. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  5. If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Mel
