Why will my google home not connect today?

I have turned on my wifi and I am told to download the app to do the set up.  I haven’t changed anything so why do I need to do a set up?

Thanks for contacting us. I'm sorry for the confusion you're having with the app update. Let me see if I can explain what's going on and help you out.

The Google Home app is now where you will manage all your Nest devices, including Google WiFi and the Google Home. If you haven't updated to the Home app, it will remind you to do so regularly. You will need to download the Home app from the Google Play store or iOS App Store (depending on your platform).

After updating, you will use Home to manage all your devices and services. If you need anything else, please let me know.
