Hi, I seem to have connection issues in my house and don’t seem to be able to fix with a number of ports.
I have a 6 mesh set-up in a not a very large terrace house. Main point is connected to my router in the front room. The point in the bedroom directly above has a good signal (Green). The one in the loft room above that (amber signal). I then have one in the kitchen 10m away from main point (amber signal), one 5m behind that in the back room (amber signal), one about 15m away in the garden shed (poor signal). I really want to improve the signal in the shed for virtual cycling via Apple TV but it drops a lot. I would hardwire the point in the back room and run down the garden but they don’t have Ethernet ports…
I”m now thinking of upgrading to the new 3 mesh pro pack but not sure if that will help and it’s not the cheapest of solutions.
Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @JJH
The best thing to do is connect the access points with Ethernet, but the Nest Wifi access point doesn't have an ethernet port. 🙄
So yes the Google Wifi Pro would be a good fit as they are able to connect with ethernet.
My current setup is like this: Nest Wifi Pro --> unmanaged network switch --> Extra Nest Wifi Pro devices.
If your wireless mesh now isn't optimal the chances are an upgraded set still won't be optimal. 🤔

Hi, thanks for the quick response. That was my next plan, using a network switch from the main point and trailing a long cable down to the shed. If the Pro has an Ethernet on the points then I’ll be able to run the cable from the back room which would be much easier. Hopefully the pro will cover the house if I have a point in the back room and the loft… we’ll see!

Hi @JJH
Just be sure it is an unmanaged switch as managed switches can have features that interfere with the Google Nest Wifi Pro features. So you can kind of cheap out on the network switch side. 😅

I haven’t yet, Nest Wi-Fi pro arrived today so I’ll set-up at the weekend. Is there an easy way to reconnect to all devices or is it one by one? I have doorbell, thermostat, cameras and smoke alarms…

Hi @JJH
Just be sure to use the same WiFi SSID and the same password as your current one. 🙂
