Wi-Fi running on dial up speed

Hi all-

I’ve had my Google nest expanders for 4 years and no issues.

However, over the last week, my Mac moves a the speed of dial up when connected to the network. Originally thought my computer was to blame, but have come to realize it must be the mesh network.

it shows my speeds as lightening fast and mesh connectivity remains strong.

Any ideas?

Hi Hmb12,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm so sorry to hear that your laptop is not getting the speed you expected. No worries; here's help! Here are some steps we can try that may solve this situation:

  • Connect your computer directly to your router using an Ethernet cable. Run a speed test on a website like Speedtest or MLab. If the results go below 80% of your speed subscription, You'll need to contact your Internet service provider.
  • Check for WiFi electromagnetic and frequency interference. Some devices, such as microwaves, cordless phones, physical barriers (metals, mirrors), speakers, etc., can interfere with the WiFi connection.
  • Ensure all cables connecting your router and modem are CAT5e or CAT6.

If you've tried these steps and your Wi-Fi connection is still slow, let me know. There are more steps we can take to try to solve this. Feel free to reply to this post if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Nery.
