Nest Wifi Pro 6E and can't reconnect Brother HL-L2350DW printer over airprint

It looks like Nest Wifi Pro would treat Brother HL-L2350DW  as HP printer (I found Google Home has device type label as "HP Printer")

I can use brother iprint&scan to manually add the printer by IP address, however air print are all blocked 😞

I have already upgrade firmware of HL-L2350DW to latest version to 04/18/2024(1.74)

The printer doesn't come with network cable

Hi @dklynn,

Thanks for reaching out about the Brother HL-L2350DW printer not being recognized correctly by Nest WiFi Pro. It's understandable that you'd want a seamless printing experience.

Here's what we can try to do to address both issues:

1. Nest WiFi Pro Printer Recognition:

  • While Nest WiFi Pro might label it as an "HP Printer," it should still function with your Brother printer. There might be a display discrepancy, but printing functionality shouldn't be affected.

2. AirPrint Issues:

AirPrint might be blocked because the Nest WiFi Pro recognizes it as an HP printer. Here are a couple of approaches:

  • Brother iPrint & Scan App: As you mentioned, you can use the Brother iPrint & Scan app to directly connect to the printer by IP address. This will bypass the Nest WiFi Pro's AirPrint limitations and allow printing functionality.

Additionally:

  • Double-check Brother Support: Visit the Brother support website and see if there are any specific configuration steps or firmware updates related to using your Brother printer with a Google WiFi or Nest WiFi system.

Since your Brother printer doesn't have a network cable, using the Brother iPrint & Scan app seems like the most reliable solution for now.

By following these steps, you should be able to print using your Brother HL-L2350DW with your Nest WiFi Pro, even if the system recognizes it as an HP printer. In any case, if you continue having issues, please let me know.

Regards,

Jorge.

Brother iPrint & Scan App is not easy to use; not everyone will download the app. I wish Google nest, Apple and Brother can work close together to address this issue.
