WiFi icon disappearing on Google Home app

Just wanted to make sure the issue of the wifi icon and the testing of the Google wifi network is still being investigated.  For some reason I lost the wifi icon in Google Home and I have no way to test the network or see what devices are on my network.  I currently am experiencing network instability and I have a several Google wifi points and 1 Google Nest router.

I will try to reset all of them to see if that would affect Google Home.  But apparently the problem of the wifi icon disappearing in Google Home is still an issue.

I received online support from a Google representative yesterday and the problem has now been resolved.  Although we don't know the reason this happened, my google account was no longer linked to my google wifi although fortunately my wife's account was (and was now showing as "primary").  When my wife sent me the invitation to join the home (as described above), it couldn't be added to my google account because I already had 5 homes linked to my google account.  To resolve this, I had to first delete the home in Google home so when the invitation was sent again, it could be added - the Wifi icon is back in both the Home and Google Wifi apps!  There was no explanation provided for why this happened.  When I started the support session, the rep asked if I had done a factory reset on my wifi puck and I said no because I at least had the ability to manage my network on one account and I didn't want to risk losing access on both accounts - he concurred.  I did find some information from Google that I suspect played a role in this - and this is total speculation - but the notification said that if your Google wifi puck was not connected to the internet for 6 months, it would be automatically and permanently deleted by Google.  I suspect something in the migration process from Google Wifi to Google Home was responsible for my Google Wifi account being de-linked from my google account.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, I'm glad that you were able to get someone from google to talk with you about it. So far it has not done it again on my system so I figure as much about it being related to the migration process. When I contacted them I believe the response was click the wifi button. Well geez. I don't know how much those types get paid but it's obviously too much.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having this issue. To isolate what's happening, could you check if you're the primary account in the home structure where the Google Wifi is setup to? Also, please try the steps that worked with @ToddMcQuaid, and let us know if there are changes.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi, @ToddMcQuaid have his wife's account to fall back and invite but sadly that is not my case.  I depend extensive on the network for my daily work so after several reset et al I am back to square one, much like what I read from @Mcgillhere ...

For now I rather keep it status quo until I can see the wifi icon on my Home app somehow...

Hi, same issue as above and looks like it is still a problem after so long. Migrated from Google wifi apps to Google Home and unable to manage the wifi since. The wifi is still working, and the devices are connecting alright. However, the missing wifi icon mean I am unable to manage the wifi network.

Sorry to hear about your problem,  the only fix that I have found is reseting everything. Well you have probably read all of the fixes on this thread have all been pretty much the same fix. I don't really call it a fix because nothing has been fixed. It's just google is fixing us, training us to accept and live with their incompetence.
