I can make and receive calls but the connection is terrible and people say I'm going in and out, speed isn't the issue since I have a 1 gig connection, is there any fix to this?

Hi Laurence1222,

Thanks for posting in the community! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing inconveniences with the connection on your Google Nest WiFi Pro. I'd be happy to help.

To better assist you, I'd like to ask the following:

  • How often does this inconvenience occur?
  • Are other devices experiencing the same inconvenience?
  • Is the inconvenience continuous or intermittent?
  • Do you use a modem or router combo?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your network setup?
  • Have you changed your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?

In the meantime, you can try these steps:

  • Test the modem: Connect a computer or laptop directly to the modem.
  • Check cables and ports: Damaged or old Ethernet cables can cause connection issues. Ensure all cables are CAT5e or CAT6 (CAT5 supports up to 100 Mbps, while CAT5e and CAT6 support up to 1,000 Mbps).
  • Reboot your Google Nest WiFi Pro: For instructions, see: Restart Nest WiFi or Google WiFi devices.
  • Change your DNS server. Use 8.8.8.8 as your primary server, and 8.8.4.4 as your secondary server. For instructions, refer to this article: DNS rebinding protection
  • Turn on IPv6: For instructions, check out this article: IPv6.
  • Wait 24 hours, then perform a speed test again. If possible, use another laptop to check the speed directly connected to the modem. Additionally, try a different speed test link.

Please keep me updated.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
