Wifi connection not reliable

Murragh
Community Member

Regularly have connectivity issues on multiple devices with my wifi. I have eithernet connection across my house and those are uninterrupted, impact is on WiFi devices.

How can these problems be prevented? Feels like this is occuring more frequently in recent months but don't have the data to support. I see many reports of similar problems on the community but none that come with an answer that isn't abandon the nest WiFi pro which I would prefer not to do.

Currently using a nest WiFi pro with 2 connection points. Have to restart the full network multiple times a week to temporarily mitigate.

thanks for the post,

Your network has multiple components , the router is just one. Lets start by knowing what your network has first details matter ALOT.
(comical) Example :
My modem  is a Netgear CM1200 and I purchased it and sub to a cable company to for internet called Kompast . I set this up using the procedure published by my ISP and after that everything appeared okay. I tested it with an ethernet cable direct connected to the modem for good measure.
next I proceeded by connecting  my modem using the provided ethernet cord to the google router and completed setup.
Following setup issues appear at random and a I cannot isolate the cause. I have a wifi enabled toaster, toothbrush and a Xbox connected my network. When reboot my system the problem resolves but occurs a few days later. My Wifi has WPA3 enable 160 mhz , IPv6 enabled, and I've reserved one IP for toaster and another for my toothbrush.

Best regards,
Apsilon

Hi everyone,

Thanks for sharing, I truly appreciate the useful information provided, Apsilon778.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience, Murragh, just a few questions:

How far away is the router from the WiFi access points?

How many devices do you have connected to the router?

What is the speed from your router?

I suggest follow the next steps below to isolate the inconvenience:

  1. Check if the affected devices are 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz capable
  2. Try to change the DNS; you can refer to the next article: Change your DNS server

Also, you should definitely read and follow the steps to fix the connection: Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi network not working.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
