Wifi disconnects intermittently on one device

Saltgirl16

I have a google wifi network with great speed and connectivity. However there is one device (a MacBook Pro) that randomly disconnects from the wifi a few times a day. It doesn’t happen on any other device, and the MacBook doesn’t do this on any other networks. It doesn’t seem to matter where I am in the house (next to vs further from the router).

There is something about this wifi network on this particular device but I can’t figure out what it is. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

I couldn't figure out how to disable MAC randomization on the Macbook Pro (maybe this is mobile / Windows only?).

But have tried the DHCP reservation and will share an update if this resolves the issue.

Hey, Saltgirl16.

I noticed you were going to try out a few things based on olavrb's help here. I just wanted to check to see if you were able to give that a try and if it worked out for you. If things aren't working, let me know and we can keep looking at things.

Thanks.

Thanks for following up. Unfortunately the DHCP reservation did not make a difference. I wasn’t able to disable MAC randomization, not sure if that is on MacBooks?

Hi, Saltgirl16.

I've looked into things a bit, and it appears that MAC randomization options are available for a Macbook, but the process is somewhat tricky. If you want to go that route, you may be best off contacting support from Apple or checking in with an Apple community forum. I don't have the expertise to recommend steps on an Apple product myself.

Thanks.

Hey, Saltgirl16.

I'm checking to see if you were able to find some support from Apple on this and to see if they gave you any answers about the MAC randomization settings. If so, let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot here.

Thanks.

Hi again, Saltgirl16.

I'm checking in once more to see you had received any word from Apple support and to see if you were still looking for help here. Let me know if there's more I can do.

Thanks,

Hey, everyone.

It looks like we've slowed down here again. We'll be closing up the thread unless anyone else has any input or needs anything else. If so, just let me know and we can keep this open a bit longer.

Thanks,
