Wrong MAC address on the bottom.

I want you to know that the MAC address printed on the bottom of the router was wrong. I had to find it in a different way, because I couldn't connect to the Internet provider.

I've never seen anything like it.

Hey @Max666 .

It is hard to comment much without more information or know where to escalate this to. Can you provide the following?

  • A picture of the bottom of the device
  • What MAC address it should have been?
  • How you obtained the other IP address?
  • What kind of ISP device were you connected to?
  • Who is the ISP?

Hello everyone,

@PatrickP_Viking, thank you for trying to help.

@Max666, I'm checking in to see if you still need assistance. Please reply to this thread with the information asked for above so we can give you a helping hand.

Best,
Lovely

No, I don't need help. I just wanted to inform google that their product has a very serious flaw. Someone less experienced may never start the router because of this.

I covered the beginning part of the MAC address and showed the wrong last two numbers with a red circle.
My ISP requires the MAC address of the router. If I don't know it, it won't connect to the ISP.
I read the correct numbers using the computer.
Someone else may not know how to do this and will never connect to the internet.
This is a serious manufacturer flaw.mac.png

Hi there Max666,

We appreciate the detailed information and we're sorry for this experience. As you know, your Google Nest Wifi Pro's MAC address is fixed and should be the same as the one etched on the base of your device. I'll check this further with our senior specialist team, so would you mind sharing when and where you purchased this unit?

Cheers,
Lovely

Hey Max666,

Thanks for the update! Our senior specialist team suggested that it'll be much better if you return this Google Nest Wifi Pro unit to the point of sale. If they refuse to accept it, please inform us so we can further help.

Kind regards,
Lovely

Everything is fine I just wanted to inform users who may have a similar problem. I'm not going to replace the router. It works fine and I don't have time to wait for a new device. (I'm going on vacation).
Regards.
