Yale WiFi bridge not connecting to Nest WiFi Pro

Title says it all really. We have a Yale Connexis 2 smart lock which connects to a Yale WiFi bridge. The bridge will only connect to 2.4 GHz networks. It absolutely will not connect to our Nest WiFi Pro, but will connect immediately when I try a 2.4 Ghz router.

Hi R_Soul,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Yale WiFi Bridge, for your Yale Connexis 2 smart lock, can’t connect to your Nest WiFi Pro network. It's definitely frustrating when smart home devices don't want to play nicely!

Based on what you've described and the fact that your Yale WiFi Bridge connects without issue to a dedicated 2.4 GHz router, this is very likely related to how the Nest WiFi Pro manages its network bands. The Nest WiFi Pro is designed to be smart and efficient, and it uses something called "band steering."

Here's a more detailed explanation of how Band Steering works and why it might be affecting your Yale WiFi Bridge, which requires a 2.4 GHz connection:

  • The Smart Band Selection: The Google Nest WiFi Pro automatically directs devices to the best WiFi band, which can be 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, or 6 GHz. It's constantly evaluating the network environment and device capabilities.

At this moment, based on the settings features available for the Nest WiFi Pro, it does not offer a way to manually split the bands (e.g., create a separate 2.4 GHz network) or disable band steering.

Please consider sharing your thoughts directly with our development team through this feedback form. Your input will help us prioritize features and ensure that we're meeting the needs of our diverse user base.

Feel free to keep us posted if you have more questions.

Best regards,

Virna

Thank you for the answer. Although this doesn't fix my issue it reassures me that it's not just me missing something,!
