I installed the google nest to extend my wifi range. Before that, whenever I zoom with others, everything works great. However, once I installed the nest - my zoom lags for everyone; as in, the other person only sees me as a frozen screen or a super laggy screen. Audio is fine. But then "your internet is unstable" shows up. I checked my internet with all the tests and it's great.

If I turn my video off, then we can continue the zoom meeting just fine with audio. When I hotspot - it's fine - video and audio wise.
Whenever I use other video conferencing apps on the same wifi, it works great.

So I'm not sure now, if its a google nest issue or it's a zoom issue?

Any help will be great! I'm in desperate need to fix this

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. Just upgraded to Next Wifi for better coverage at home. Everything else works fine (coverage is much better and I love the assistant feature!) but I experience the Zoom problem describe by the OP. Audio is totally fine but my image is frozen every time and screen share takes a long time to be seen by others if it ever. Really desperate for a solution.

Hey, everyone.

Sorry to hear about your issues doing video calling on your WiFi network. That's definitely a frustrating issue to deal with. Let's look at what's going on and see if we can get this fixed for you.

A recent update to the WiFi products was aimed to improve performance for certain activities, video calling included. However, for some network conditions with certain users, they may need to define video calling as a preferred activity. Setting up preferred activities is done through the Home app. I'll share those instructions below.

Turn on or off preferred activities

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi  and then Settings  and then Preferred activities.
  3. Check each activity type you would like your network to prioritize.

Preferred activities remain prioritized for your network until you turn them off.

If you already have preferred activities selected for video calling, try turning all preferred activities off and see if that helps. In some small instances some people are seeing improvements on their network with no activities set to preferred. If you still need help, please come back and let me know. Thanks!

Hey, everyone.

I’m just checking in real quick to see if we needed anything else here or if we were able to resolve the problem. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do here.

Thanks

Hi, everyone.

As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.

Thanks
