google home app port settings not available

Natzure

I'm following the instructions to manage ports.  there is no option to add or modify a port.  The app takes me to two privacy settings:  Nest wifi cloud services and wifi router and point usage stats.

How do I modify a port?

Thanks

Hi Natzure,

Thanks for posting. Here are the steps to add or modify a port:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Wi-Fi > Settings > Advanced Networking.
  3. Tap Port management > Add.
  4. Select the tab for the type of IP address you're forwarding.
  5. Select a device.
  6. Add your internal and external ports.
    • For IPv4: Choose an internal port used by the device on the local network and an external port on the WAN. You can enter a single port number (#) or a port range (####-####).
      • Note: When entering a port range internal and external ranges need to be the same. This is not the case for single port forwarding.
    • For IPv6: Enter the port range.
      • Note: Some devices will suggest what ports to use, while others let you choose. If you don’t know which ports to forward, contact the device manufacturer or check the device's manual.
  7. Choose either Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), or TCP/UDP. These are different protocols used to send data over the internet.
  8. Tap Save.

Hello there,

We're glad to know that your issue is all sorted out, @Natzure. I'll go ahead and lock this case in the next 24 hours; feel free to create a new thread if you have other concerns or questions in the future.

Cheers,
Lovely

Hello. My phone is set to greek language and so is the Google Home app, but when I go to the app's settings I don't get any WiFi option to tap on. I have the latest version of Google Home app installed (16/04/2023).

On my Google Nest Hub settings however I do get a WiFi button to tap on but the only option is to forget network. No other networking options are available and I desperately need to set a static gateway ip address as my Nest Hub somehow gets the wrong one from the router's DHCP server and disconnects every night.

Hi bluepurplelion,

To confirm, do you currently have a Google Wifi network set up and online in your home? Also, could you send us a screenshot of your Google Home app for our reference? I’ll wait for your reply.

Regards,
Abi

Thanks for replying AbigailF. I'm afraid I didn't realize it was a Google Wifi network we were talking about. I didn't even know such a thing exists. So the answer is no. I have a wireless router which I use for my LAN and where all my devices wired and wireless are connected including a Google Nest Hub, which has a very unstable wireless connection. So I suppose that may explain the reason why the advanced settings are missing from my  Google Home app! Sorry to have wasted your time.
