google wifi no QR no setup key and no PSK

Hi,

I have a Google wifi unit (model: GJ2CQ) and I have lost the sticker from the bottom. I have done a factory reset on it and now cannot connect.

I have followed the official instructions and visited http://192.168.84.1/api/v1/status but the PSK field is blank, apparently Google have upgraded the firmware and this field is no longer visible.

I have also followed the instructions here https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9012064?hl=en-GB#zippy=%2Cgoogle-wifi-point but it requires a usb enabled unit and mine has a jack style ac adapter.

I have searched through the threads and can't find an answer, but can see multiple people with the same issue. Creating this post so that I can be provided a link to contact a specialist advisor.

Hi rb13,

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry that you have trouble setting up the Google WiFi; this could be frustrating, especially when it doesn't have any stickers. I really appreciate the effort to troubleshoot the issue.

For further assistance on this concern, please contact us following the instructions:

  1. Go to Contact Us (Google Nest Help).
  2. Select an appropriate product or category, type a brief description of the issue, and then click Next.
  3. Click Other, then click Next.
  4. In the Resources section, click Next Step.
  5. Choose to get a phone call, call, or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Our special team will help check out other options.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Byron
