Nest guard version 1.4.0.0.6 can’t update

Dank430

For some reason my nest guard is suddenly off line. When I tried to press 2 and held the button the device says “Nest guard version 1.4.0.0.6 can’t update”

I have followed online instructions to factory reset but when reconnecting it says I am not able to connect to Wi-Fi and the version called out is the same and repeats the same message “Nest guard version 1.4.0.0.6 can’t update”

please help

I'm having a similar issue. My Nest Guard has a continuously circling blue light and keeps exclaiming "finishing up,  this might take a minute." This has been going on for hours now. My device is unresponsive to restart attempts and factory restart attempts.

Hi Brad,

As mentioned in my post, my device is unresponsive to restart attempts and factory restart attempts. I have followed these steps repeatedly, and the device keeps on with the blue spinning and message of "finishing up,  this might take a minute."

I purchased this in Aug. 2020, and two months later in Oct. 2020, Google stopped with the system with promises to still support. However, now Brinks also no longer will monitor the device. Please advise steps on obtaining a partial refund.

Hi Brad,

Thanks- I submitted the form ~48 hours ago and haven’t been contacted; what is the typical response time? While I wait, do you have further troubleshooting tips? My home security solution is presently just a paperweight.

I am not sure what their typical time frame is, but I know that once the form is submitted, support is supposed to reach out to you soon after. Thank you for your patience while waiting for a reply from support.

Brad

Hi Brad, I have never heard from google regarding the form I submitted weeks ago. No change - my system is out of order and the troubleshooting steps don’t work.

Here is a link to speak with them directly since you have yet to hear from them. They're usually a lot quicker getting back after the form has been filled out.

Hey folks,

I’m sorry you’re still having trouble updating your Nest Guard. Let’s dig deeper into this — how far is the Guard from the router?

Give these steps a try:

  1. Move the Nest Guard closer to the router.
  2. If there's a spot in the home that has a better cell signal than where the Nest Guard currently sits, move it closer to that spot.
  3. Factory reset the device.

I appreciate your help, Brad!

Thanks,

JT

Hello Kelly4,

I’m sorry to hear about your experience. The support and functionality in the Nest app for Nest Secure will be discontinued on April 8, 2024. To learn more about Nest Secure’s update and exclusive offer for a Self Setup System from ADT, take a look at this link
