I'm a big fan of the Nest Secure ecosystem, and I've been using it for a while now with great success. However, I've noticed a big gap in functionality between the Nest Detect sensors and the Yale lock that I believe should already be fixed.
Why can't the Yale lock use Nest Detect door sensors to detect if it can deploy the deadbolt for the auto-lock feature? It's frustrating because the Nest Detect can alert me when a door is open or closed, but the Yale lock which is on the same door and nest ecosystem can't use that door position information to see if it can deploy the automatic lock.
Currently, if the door is open, on a door that has a Nest Detect, and auto lock is enabled, the deadbolt will deploy no matter what. This seems like something that can easily be remedied since all the devices are running through the same systems.
I've seen similar posts regarding this issue on the forum and I'm surprised that it hasn't been addressed yet. This feature would greatly improve the overall functionality and user experience of the Nest Secure ecosystem. It's a shame that we have to go through extra steps to arm or disarm the system when we leave our home or when we come back, with this integration it would be done automatically, it would be much more convenient and secure.
I hope the Nest team is reading this and can take this into consideration. It would be great to hear from them or from other users who feel the same way.
