4 button Matter switch which support Commission into Google nest hub 2 does not show correctly.

Hi,

We are developing a Matter switch product that includes 4 buttons, and each button supports click, double click, and held actions. Currently, the device can be successfully commissioned with the Google Home Hub 2, but in the Google Home app, each button's action is displayed as "On" and "Off", rather than the expected "Click", "Double Click", and "Held".

Additionally, when configuring Automation, there is no option to select the Matter switch as a starter.

What do we need to do to ensure that each button in the Google Home app displays the correct actions: click, double click, and held? And how can we make the Matter switch available as a starter in Automation?

For reference, the device correctly displays and triggers click, double click, and held actions on SmartThings Hub, Apple HomePod mini, and Home Assistant.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Thanks for sharing the issue with matter multi-action switch display. Can you please open an issue tracker (Public Trackers > Matter) and share the bug ID here. Provide all the details from above along with the screenshots/video from the Google Home. I will forward it to internal teams for further investigation.

The Google Home Developer area suggests that you while a user can commission your device via Google Home, the user will have to actually assign and configure it using a third party app that is also Matter capable.

Because the Google Home ecosystem does not expose the Matter Binding cluster to its controllers, end users cannot configure an On/Off Light Switch to control other Matter devices using the GHA. They can commission a Matter On/Off Light Switch, but they won't be able to do anything with it afterwards, other than delete it from the home.

[snip]

In order for an On/Off Light Switch to be usable in the Google Matter fabric, the partner needs to implement a Matter director, which is a remote client that can create entries in the Binding cluster. The app would then allow the On/Off Light Switch to control another Matter device or group of devices.

This means you either have to either build your own client or ensure you work with a non-Google one (Samsung, Tapo, IDK)

I'm rooting for you!
