Simulated Nest Products

I would like to start building a web app that talks to a nest thermostat. But I don't own one right now. Is there any options available for me to play with a simulated nest thermostat? Or will I need to purchase one in order to develop against it.

To my knowledge, there isn't an app or service that simulates Nest Thermostat.

You can try working with the Device Access thermostat codelab.

Currently, there are no virtual devices catering to the functionality that you are looking for, hence you will need a physical nest thermostat.
