Adding multiple items to a shopping list

I'm a new convert to Google from Alexa so it might well be that I'm missing something obvious, but here goes anyway.

If I say, "Hey Google, add milk and eggs to my shopping list", I expect two items to appear. One, milk, the other, eggs. Instead, I see a single item, "milk and eggs" appear.

Am I doing something wrong or are my expectations too high?
