After nest hub connected to Nest audio speakers, song playing does not show on screen.

When I say to the hub in my kitchen Hey google play music, the hub shows it is responding by having a brief white border. The sound comes out of the stereo speakers. But the screen on the hub does not show the song. Any ideas?

Hi JimNovember,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Google Nest Hub does not show the song on the screen when it is playing. I know this can be frustrating; no worries, I am here to help! before I need to ask some questions to understand better the situation.

This situation happens with only a specific app?

Have you created a speaker group with your speakers? If so, this situation begins after you do.

I will be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel

I have 2 nest audio speakers set up as a stereo pair. They are set up as the default speaker for the hub. By default when I say “Hey Google, play music” music from YouTube music plays. Before I added the stereo pair, the hub would display the song. Now it does not. Thank you for trying to help me with this.

Hi JimNovember,

Thanks for your reply. Could you please send me a photo of your Google Nest Hub screen how it shows when you ask for a song?

I will be awaiting for your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi JimNovember,

Thanks for the photo. I can see that you have activated the photo frame feature. When it is active, It will show you your gallery photos when you do not use or touch your Google Nest Hub. I recommend you turn off this feature. Please follow the next steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap favorites or divides.
  3. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings  > Photo Frame and deactivate the photos.

Besides, you can visit the next link to check how Photo Frame on your Google Nest display works.

Let me know if this helps!

Regards,

Manuel

I like the photo frame. Will not turn off photo frame. Before I added the speakers the song name would automatically replace the photo frame when music was playing

Hi JimNovember,

Yes, it is correct that your Google Nest Hub would change and show the app you're using. However, it seems to be stuck on the photo frame. Please try to remove the photo frame and then add it again. Check if the inconvenience persists.

If yes, for the next step, I recommend you reboot your Google Nest Hub. Please follow these steps to reboot:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Select the speaker or display and then tap on "Settings."
  3. At the top right, tap "More" and then "Reboot.

Let me know if this helps!

Regards,

Manuel

One more thing. Since this problem only occurred when I added the stereo pair, wouldn’t the problem have to do with that?

I did reboot, no improvement

there is no control to deactivate Photo Frame, somI switched to clock and back to Photo frame

problem persists

Instructions please on how to remove and then add photo frame

Hi JimNovember,

Thanks for your reply. Please follow these steps to remove:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
  3. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  4. Tap Settings, then Photo Frame, and then Google Photos.
  5. Select albums to add and deselect albums to remove.

Once you've removed the albums, please check if the situation persists. If yes or not please let me know, follow the same steps to add the photo frame back.

I'll be awaiting your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Accidentally found a workaround. I said, Hey Google Skip and then the next song comes up on the screen and the feature works

I still would prefer to have it work normally if someone can figure it out
