Air Quality AQI not showing up even though enabled

beachguy

I have two Google Hubs that will not show AQI air quality even though I've disabled and then re-enabled the AQI setting on my phone for both of them.

  • I rebooted them both and that didn't help
  • I have 3 Lenovo google hubs that show the AQI just fine.

When will Google fix this bug so it shows up on my Google Hubs

Just a quick update-

The Nest team let me know that the AQI is still in roll out status. They are still doing research on why we have the option to show the feature and I feel that may be a bug. I'll update as I hear more.

Hi Beachguy,

I am going to check with the Nest team on this. I also have set the aqi to on in the settings for my Nest Hub and my Nest Hub Max.  The Hub Max shows it but not the smaller Nest Hub.

I did a reboot with no change.

Thank you for submitting it to the Nest team!!!

Hi,

Just curious @beachguy did AQI ever show on your Google devices?

No, AQI is still not showing up on my Google Hubs - only my Lenovo (google) smart displays.

Did nest team think they fixed it? If so I will reboot, although that shouldn't make a difference.

They are still looking into this so no news yet. I was just personally curious if the AQI ever showed for you--I don't think I ever had it on my Nest Hub. Definitely shows on my Hub Max though...

I still think it's a bug, as all my other smart hubs (lenovo) show AQI just fine, and have for a long time.

I'm thinking maybe the issue is that I have the old "Google Hubs" and not the newer "Nets Hubs".

I agree...it shows on my larger hub but not on those older ones.

Hopefully you can try to convince the developer team of this again, since last I heard they didn't think it was a bug - just a matter of time.

THANK YOU!

I think the response from the Nest team that the AQI is in roll out is the answer and eventually it will show but that the "show aqi on this device" option for our devices was wayyyy premature.

Having that option to show the AQI on the device when it's not actually available is not ideal!

Oh - so maybe 'roll-out' means the team configuring it to work on the old devices? Or do you think the initial update is still being sent to devices all this time later, and it just hasn't gotten to the older hubs? That doesn't seem that likely to me, as it's been so long since AQI started getting to my devices.

Roll out to me means anything from it is imminent,  in the process or it is still planned. Pretty much anything in between too.

My opinion...I do think we will get the AQI on the smaller displays.

It’s working now finally! 😀

BUT… on a similar note – On the Lenovo devices, you can’t see websites anymore! I saw it said they won’t be allowing this anymore on ‘unsupported devices’. Is Lenovo no longer a supported device? I heard the issue is that they changed searches so all websites were now ‘safe search’ and I guess they didn’t want to update Lenovo to reflect this?

Hi everyone! Thanks for posting about this thread. Did you get this worked out? Our google  home device was showing AQI (which I loved), but now it has disappeared. Any idea how to get it back? Thanks!
