Assistant triggered on locked device instead of Home Mini

Hi,
my Google Home Mini and Pixel 7a are both within one meter from each other. On the phone, assistant is configured to require unlocking. When I say "Hey Google", instead of the Home Mini, the phone activates and tells me I need to unlock it.
All suggested solutions, e.g. configuring device priorities, where not applicable because the mentioned buttons in the Google Home and Google apps do not even exist.

Thanks for your advice

Hello axw,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

Make sure that your Google Home Mini and Google Pixel 7A are using the same Google Account so it will prioritize the former. Kindly update all the Google applications installed on your phone. Check out this link for more information.

Let me know if this helps.

Best,
Lovely

Hi,
thanks for your response. Both devices are indeed using the same google account and all software is updated to the most recent version.

Hey there,

Apologies for the late revert. Try these steps:

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap your Google Home Mini > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • From the Devices button, scroll down to Other cast/Local devices > Tap on Google Home Mini > Add to a room. Follow  the prompts in adding it back to a room.
  • Unplug Google Home Mini from the power outlet for a minute.
  • Try to give a test command.

Warmly,
Alex
