Audio playing on local device - how to stop permanently

I have a paired group in my bedroom on my google account. My son has a nest speaker in his room on a different google account. His speaker shows under "local devices." When I play audio on my bedroom group it also plays on his even though it's separate accounts. I have to hit stop casting.  Since he's not on my account, I can't "remove device" or access any controls. How to fix so we can both listen and control our devices independently? It's driving us nuts. Thank you.

Hi @Tomf,

I understand how frustrating it must be to have audio playing on your son's Nest speaker unintentionally. Let's get that fixed so you both can enjoy independent audio control.

On the Google Home app, we can easily unlink his speaker from your bedroom group. Here's how:

  1. Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker, display, Chromecast, or Pixel Tablet.
  2. Open the Google Home app .
  3. Tap Settings > Devicesgroups & rooms  > Speaker groups.
  4. Tap the group you want to edit > tap Choose devices.
  5. Tap each device that you want to add or remove. All devices in the group will have a check.
  6. Tap Save.

This will keep your bedroom group separate, and casting audio to his speaker won't happen automatically anymore. You'll both be able to control your devices independently.

If you have any trouble with these steps, feel free to reach out for further assistance. We're happy to help!

Best,

Brandon.
