Playing BBC Radio on Home Hub

I have always been able to play BBC radio stations on my Home Hub by asking 'play radio 4', but today it just responds 'i can't do that on here'. What has changed?

It would be helpful if Google issued an error message.  I spent ages, resetting modems and returning all my speakers to factory settings, trying to find a fix, and eventually came online and discovered the fault, no BBC radio, is not due to my equipment.  A simple fault message would have been very helpful!

Polk Assist. Stopped playing BBC stations and now dose not play YouTube. Three Google speakers all OK.

Looks like this is a known issue the BBC are aware of and investigating.

Sorry to hear that you're still having issues playing music on your Google Home/Nest devices. Let's try to get to the bottom of this. Could you tell us the specific BBC radio station that you're having an issue with? What country are you located in? What specific Google Home/Nest device do you have? Also, what are the steps that you've tried?

I understand what you feel. Please note that the Google Home/Nest devices are not available in Greece that's why some of the features are not working. Same as the availability of stations or radio providers.

It did work by issuing the command 'Hey Google, play BBC Radio 2' The other dot isn't released in Greece, but replacing the 'Hey Google...' with her name it does stream it. So no matter what you are telling me, Google has changed something, and maybe they are not telling you!

I’m having the same problem, and this is the main reason I have Google Nest!

To be honest with you, this isn't entirely fixed. No matter what the experts/moderators tell you in the blog. For me, Google Nest does stream BBC Radio stations in the UK, but not in all EU countries. You have to use BBC Sounds. In Norway it is OK. In Greece it isn't. Have visited both countries in July with a Google Nest I carry with me and this is what I've experienced. In Greece I have a permanent home, so my Google Nest installed there isn't doing what my Google Nest does in the UK.

The same thing is happening to me! I am tempted to get rid of the stupid robot and go Alexa.  This has been going on intermittently for at least a week I am fed up of hearing the patronising tone saying it can't do that.....like HAL in 2001 🤖

I have been in touch with BBC as well we pay for our licence so you should provide this service

so Google get a shift on this is so frustrating had to get the old radio out is this the year of 2023 or the 1980. how long do we have to wait ???????

I have 2 Nest Hubs 2nd Gen,, they have suddenly stopped playing any BBC radio station, this has gone on for 4 days now, they play LBC but say they 'can't do that here' when asked for any BBC station. One is 5 months old, the other 3 months. I bought them primarily for radio progs. I have sent feedback several times and have put a question on here but have heard nothing. I have unplugged for long periods and rebooted, nothing works. I would apreciate some help please. it's really frustrating. Kate

it’s a pain isn’t it. I thought it as something I’d done. I’ve spent ages in installing my speaker. Changed all the settings on my phone and Google home app. What a waste of time. BBC should put something on line to let people know at least.

More likely Google I think, nobody with Alexa seems to be having a problem. My two nest hubs are useless to me without BBC radio so yes - a total pain, and no answers from Google or BBC.

If this is Google’s recommended answer I’m really concerned that a multinational thinks this was. It has type words but says nothing.Between Google and BBC there is a need for a joint statement explaining the issue, what needs to be done and by when. However if there is no fix please just tell us so we can move on from both of you.

Up till three days ago both Google Nest minis streamed BBC radio 2 when asked, now they both say they can't at the moment, but it cab on any other devices. Very annoying, what is hhe problem?
