Hi Dennisp1974,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that it’s not possible to change the balance settings for your stereo speaker Google Nest audio. Thank you for letting us know that you’re trying to do it through the Google Home app, but it doesn’t allow you to change the balance; it returns automatically to the basics. No worries, help is here.

Before I start providing assistance, I have a few questions for you:

  • Are you using an Android or an iPhone to control your device?
  • What's the Nest speaker color and number firmware version?
  • Is your Google Home app updated?
  • Is the failing Nest speaker working alone, or is it part of a speaker group?
  • Have there been any recent changes to your environment, such as a change in WiFi network or recent outages?
  • How far from the router is your Google Nest Mini?
  • Would you kindly confirm whether your Google Nest Mini is linked to a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • Could you please check if there are wireless interference like walls and floors, nearby WiFi networks, other electronics, cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and wireless video equipment between your Nest speaker and the router?
  • Have you tried to reboot the Google Nest speaker to resolve the inconvenience?

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna.

Hi Dennisp1974,

Thanks for your prompt answer. I appreciate the time invested to provide me with the information I was needing to better assist you.

Based on the information you’ve provided, I would recommend following the next

troubleshooting steps:

 1.  Delete the actual speaker group:

  • Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker and Google Nest Audio.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap Settings (the screw icon).
  • Then choose the option “Devices, groups & rooms.”
  • Select “Speaker groups.”
  • Select the group you want to delete.
  • Choose the option “Delete group.”
  • Tap “Remove” or “Delete.”

2.  Create a new speaker group:

  • Make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your speaker and your Google Nest Audio. Make sure to add your devices to the 2.4 GHz band on your WiFi network for better performance of your devices.
  • Open the Google Home app.
  • Tap “Settings” (the screw icon).
  • Then choose the option “Devices, groups & rooms.”
  • Select “Speaker groups.”
  • Then tap on the option “Create speaker group.”
  • Tap each device that you want to add to the group. A check will appear next to each selected device.
  • Tap “Next,” then enter a name for your group.
  • Tap “Save.”

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Virna
