Big problem pairing TuneIn Pemium with Google Home.

Hello community I am French Belgian speaking French. For over a year I was deprived of my favorite radio stations, and now that it's starting to work again more or less, TuneIn decided to put ads while listening. Before it was 2, 3 advertisements before listening, it was not embarrassing. For me this is a big problem, because all the announcements are in Flemish, and I hate this language. Here in Europe. TuneIn is imposed on us by Google in Google Home, no way to change radio applications. So, to avoid having to put up with these ads while listening, I decided to take TuneIn Premium, and I saw on my Nest Hub that I was still in Free. I contact Google, and we spend almost an afternoon trying to figure out where the problem is coming from, to no avail. I decide to contact TuneIn, and I'm told that TuneIn Premium does not partner with Google Home. I really thought I was being pranked. Well no ! And TuneIn apparently doesn't care. I don't know about you, but I don't understand anything anymore. It doesn't make any sense, it's really absurd. Thanks for reading me. Ben

Hi Eli,

Thank you for your message.

Why don't you use CiriusXM?
I may have a solution for you. Please do not cancel your TuneIn Premium subscription.
You contact TuneIn, and you explain your problem, if you haven't already done so.
Are you going to send them a message, and you ask them if it is possible, if you keep your Premium subscription, to no longer have ads while listening on Google Home ?
And you will see what they will answer you. Me, it worked. But don't quote me, I don't want to have any worries, and everyone else who reads this message, and who has the same problem.
Tell me if they accepted or not, ok ?

If yes, you will still be TuneIn Free on Google Home, but without the ads while listening, apart from the max 2 ads before listening like before, but that's not a problem.

Best regards.

Ben

Hey BenLge,

Thanks for the post - we hear you.  We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the team. I also suggest that you send feedback using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback" or by following the steps on this link.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thank you for your answer Muddi,

I've already done what you suggest, but I'm always told that we have to wait for future updates... Here, I haven't been answered yet.
But how is it possible that Google has imposed on us a radio application incompatible with Google Home?
Google really doesn't care about us. No consideration. Pay, but shut up !

Big corporations, like the Google empire, are totally disconnected from reality. We are in a time of war. Everything has become very expensive. A lot of people are in trouble. And them, they do not find better to increase their prices.

Best regards.

Ben,

I am having the same experience here in the USA. I am astonished that there is not a wealth of complaints and comments on the internet. I am in the Trial period of TuneIn Premium so I may cancel. Linkng tunein to Alexa can be done by making it  a skill on Alexa, though it remains  clunky--you have to open another app, TuneIn LIVE.  For Google home the only solution is to Chromecast from an Android device. It's nuts--there is NO way to activate TuneIn Premium with a voice command. Yet free, ad-full TuneIn is fully integrated into Google Home; unlike Sirius, which requires a linking of accounts, TuneIn premium cannot be linked. To quote the email sent to me:

Google Home only plays live stations and as such the device isn't compatible with TuneIn Premium, this isn't a feature that Google home has added to date.

LinkedIn seems to put the fault at the doorstep of Google.

Lack of integration with Google home is a huge problem for me given the way I access media. Thanks for posting this incredible failure

Eli
