Block ALL Videos - Google Nest Hub

We are trying to remove access to YouTube on devices in the house (barring devices for parents - though we use rarely).

I wanted to remove access to videos on our Google Nest Hub, but despite setting the Everyone and All Videos settings under Digital Wellbeing, my son can just ask Google to "show me some videos" and a list of videos still pops up.

Once he clicks on one it plays and then can keep playing suggested videos. If he asks for the Hub to show him specific videos, only then it states that it cannot due to content filters.

I can't believe that after all these years the Hub has been out, Google is still unable to offer the function to complete shut down all videos within Google Home settings.

Hi Karnesh,

Thanks for posting. I understand that you are looking for the option to block all videos on the Google Nest Hub since your child can get access with the voice command. I can get how difficult this can be. But don't worry; help is here. The best recommendation will be to turn on the restricted mode on YouTube. You can check the "How to turn Restricted Mode on or off on YouTube" video for visual help and the "Turn Restricted Mode on or off on YouTube" article for more information.

I hope this information helps.

Best regards,

Jenny

Hi,

Restricted mode doesn't seem to solve the issue.

The only solution that stops them opening any videos is to have Downtime mode turned on ALL the time - but then my wife and I are incapable of playing anything either.

It's disappointing that Google devices cannot tell the difference between my voice (which has had a model trained), and anyone else for a start.

It's the same issue on any of my Google devices (though not the main issue of this post).

Hi there!

I have the same problem.

YouTube can be launched via the app launcher on the Nest Hub, although I have blocked videos for everyone.

Are you aware of this problem?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your responses. I understand that after trying multiple steps, including using the Restricted Mode on YouTube, not all videos are blocked on the Google Nest Hub, and I can see how disappointing this can be. We really appreciate your feedback. We're constantly working on improvements, and your input helps us shape future features.

Regards,
Jenny

When will Google address this issue?
