Bluetooth audio not routing the audio to the bluetooth device paired and selected...

We are getting very close to a year since it was reported that when people pair a soundbar or other bluetooth speaker: the audio requested (all audio) only comes out the Nest Hub internal speaker.... Even if you ask to play (source) on (output device) by name.

It says it will, but instead the audio just comes out the Nest Hub's built-in speaker..

This is WHILE in settings:bluetooth the desired speaker/output device is listed as PAIRED, Preferred Audio Device, and says CONNECTED...  WTF?  So, it's CLEARLY a Bluetooth Audio Routing issue, not a pairing issue.

It was broken in a firmware update only days into 2023.

After a few weeks to months into other posts about this issue googlenestcommunity staff just started ignoring all of us, which wasn't so bad considering they kept offering people the same stupid advice to reset their devices (which didn't work).  They would say it was being looked into, but never had any updates... NOTHING was done about this major issue.

I can't hear my Nest Hub internal speaker everywhere in my house like I can my bluetooth conndcted Samsung soundbar.

My soundbar worked perfectly for about 2 years before the connection was broken precisely on the day a firmware update was pushed to my Nest Hub.

Because the Nest Hub claims it is sending audio to the bluetooth device  but audio actually comes out of it's internal speaker, it's pretty obviois this is a bluetooth audio routing issue.

Like so many others, ALL other devices that have been able to connect and play over this bluetooth soundbar are still able to, except for my Google Nest Hub (Version 1)

We're fast approaching a year with a broken device not getting fixed.  Not fixed like it needs repair, fixed like Google broke it to try to get people to upgrade to a newer product... This is what it's looking like.    Eventually a newer firmware update came out, so I know the device still has official support, but that update didn't address the issue I share with many others.

I haven't checked version numbers in a few months to know it there has been further updates, but I do know I still can't enjoy a major feature I paid for when I retired Alexa devices and bought Google's product... Regretting that very much.  Alexa can connect AND USE my soundbar just fine still, as can ANY other Android device.

Very unhappy we are all being ignored...

By we, for example, I mean:

googlenestcommunity.com msg id 90195

Hopefully some of the people find this newer thread and speak up.

This is NOT the inability to pair and set a bluetooth device... Checking in the settings menu shows the device IS paired, preferred, and connected, but audio comes out the Nest Hub internal speaker instead.

This is very bad to be allowed to go on nearly a year and counting...

Hi AaronJMyers,

Thanks for reaching out. We hear you — we can understand why you feel that way. I'll do my best to get you off the ride and on the right path. Could you send us a short video clip showing it? Also, please provide the firmware version of your devices. Check out the steps below on how to get it.

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Tap your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Regards,

Juni
