Bricked Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max

To whom it may concern,

On 09.23.23, my Nest Hub Max went dark, I tried to restart it several times only to be met with a loading screen which went on for over an hour.  Thinking that the machine was busted, I bought a Nest Hub.  After I set it up, it too showed a blank screen and has been unable to load.  I've factory reset both hubs and I've reset my modem and router twice.  Everything else that is WiFi connected in my bedroom (where the Nests are located) are operational.  I also have a Google WiFi router in my bedroom if that helps.

The system firmware version is 12.20230611.67 for both devices in Google Home.

Any advice?

When you pressed and held both volume buttons together for about 10 seconds, did your Nest Hub Max and Nest Hub let you know that they were resetting?

If so, you could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the help, MpIsCustomer.

Sonicspindash74, I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with your Google Nest Hub and Google Nest Hub Max devices. Were you able to get in contact with our Support team? If not, let’s further look into it.

Do you have a spare phone or tablet? Factory reset one of your displays and set it up on a temporary hotspot.

  • Set up a temporary mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Enable your Mobile data and hotspot.
  • Connect the second phone/tablet to the hotspot.
  • Set up using the second phone/tablet. Choose the Mobile hotspot on the “Connect to WiFi” page > Complete the set up steps.

If the setup was successful on the temporary Hotspot, the issue is likely with the connection of your Google Nest Hub to your home WiFi. Try to change the connection from the hotspot to your WiFi. From the home view of the Google Home app, tap Devices > Choose your Google Nest Hub > Settings > Device information > WiFi > Forget WiFi. Switch the connection of the set up device from the hotspot to your WiFi > Open the Google Home app > Do the normal set up process again.

Regards,
Alex
