I've seen a few other posts about this but none of them seem to have gotten answers.
I have a Nest Hub Max. I would like it to (and everything I've read, including responses here, says it should) show a notification about upcoming events on the home/ambient screen (where photos or the clock can be displayed). It will show reminders there, but nothing for calendar events or, I found today, Family Notes.
I have:
*Verified that the correct account is linked (Assistant will read me events if I ask)
*Verified that personal results are turned on.
*Factory reset
System firmware: 8.20220713.2.219
Cast firmware: 1.63.322641

Hi CarisaLm,
Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us.
I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, we'd be happy to take a look into this for you. Could you create a new home and set up your Nest Hub Max there, then observe if this will make a difference?
Check these steps:
Create a home
Note: You can have up to 5 homes in your account.
Before you reset your Nest Hub Max.
Reset your Nest Hub Max
Keep me posted.
Thanks,
Juni

Hello,
I followed all those steps and still no calendar or family note notifications.

Hey CarisaLm,
Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just an added questions: when did the issue start? What type of email account do you have (Business or Personal)? Please try saving a new events via voice command on your Google Nest Hub Max. Let's see if your device will have the same behavior.
Let me know how it goes.
Cheers,
Muddi

Hello,
I don't remember the feature ever working. Oddly, it will show birthday reminders/notifications for contacts whose birthday I've saved as part of their contact card.
I have a personal email.
Events created by voice on the device itself don't behave any different.

Hey CarisaLm,
Thanks for trying. Upon further checking, the only way to view or know your calendar events is by asking your Nest Hub Max. You'll receive notifications for reminders like birthdays or if you ask your device to remember things. We're always looking for ways to improve, and we will take this as feedback and pass it along to the team. I also suggest that you send feedback using your devices by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback" or by following the steps on this link.
Let us know if you have additional questions or concerns about your Nest Hub Max. Otherwise, I will lock the thread shortly.
Cheers,
Muddi

There is a setting in the Photo Frame menu (Home App, My Display settings, Phot Frame) for turning "Banner Notifications" on or off. On-screen it explains this as "Get timely notifications for your upcoming events, flights, and more." If you're correct about notifications not showing unless I ask about my calendar, then what is this setting for?

I think you are right about it -- I just made events to test myself on my Nest Hub

Hey CarisaLm,
Got it! This is for banner notification. It should appear on the upper right corner and will show up as a small icon for notification for upcoming events. To confirm, did you enable Face match on your device?
@Arthur_Gray: Thanks for the input.
Cheers,
Muddi

Yes, that's what I'm looking for. I don't keep the camera on by default for privacy reasons, I only turn it on for video calls. There is only one account, mine, connected to the Hub, so it seems strange that it might need to see me in order to know which events to show.

Hey CarisaLm,
I understand that you prefer to turn off the camera for privacy. However, to receive banner notifications on your display you have to make sure that the "Personal results and Face Match" are enabled. Please note that Google takes privacy seriously, visit this link for more information.

Here is the official support page for this:
Supported Google Calendars:
- Main Google Calendar of the owners of the Google Accounts and voices linked to a speaker or display.
- Shared and Family Google Calendars (additional Google Calendars created by or shared with owners of the Google Accounts and voices linked to a speaker or display). This excludes the unsupported Google Calendars listed below.
My question for you is this: do you have "Show Proactively" checked?

Yes, I have that setting on.
