Calendars on Google Hub Max

Feeling like I'm taking crazy pills.  We got a Hub Max to try to help our kids check the weather and the family calendar entries for the day and week each morning.  Trying to set up routines that have this functionality and weather works great but the calendars point blank refuse to appear.  I have checked the boxes for all the calendars (each person in the family has one) so they are all connected.  I even made an email address for my 9 year old and taught Google what her voice sounds like and face looks like so she could try her routine again.  Set up the routine inside the Google Home app under her login, gave access to all calendars, and still it shows weather and then just stops.  

What am I missing?!  Thanks in advance.
