Where are we on getting a microphone icon on Nest cameras like everywhere else? I see this days back to 2021... Stated it was a bug, surely it cannot be so complex

Hi Glen_dm,

I know how inconvenient it is if something is not working as it should be, but, could you tell me more about your concern to address it better? Is it about a microphone icon on the Nest app or the Google Home app or perhaps on the Nest Hub itself? Which Nest speakers are we working with?

Let’s make sure we narrow things down to know what steps to take.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Dan

It is on the nest hub itself. Doorbell shows, any other nest camera doesn't.

On the Android home app you can use the mic on any of those cameras so I wonder why the best hub only works with the doorbell.

Going to link the threads here so they don't die.

Hi Glen_dm,

I understand how inconvenient this is for you. The help center article can confirm that it's not a bug but a feature that is not available for other Nest cameras when streaming on the Nest display.

You can always refer to this link and see under Google Nest displays - "If you have a Nest doorbell, you can also use Talk and Listen on a Google display like Nest Hub Max. For instructions, go to Get doorbell visitor announcements on a speaker or display. Make sure that your doorbell and display have all been added to the same home in the app."

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Glen_dm,

Chiming in, my apologies for the confusion. Please note that the mic button is only available when streaming the Nest doorbell on the Nest Hub because of the talk and listen feature of the doorbell. For other Nest cameras, you can use the Nest app itself to reply or talk to the person on the camera. Visit this link for more information.

We're always looking for ways to improve -- we'll take this as feedback. You can also send feedback using your device by saying, "Hey Google, send feedback." Visit this link for more steps.

Let us know if you have additional questions or concerns about your device, otherwise; I'll close the thread after 24 hours.

Cheers,

Muddi

Well... Tbh I don't even know if you, yourself understand what you just said. Whoever, it sounds extremely inconvenient. The nest hub max google assistant opens any camera BUT I can't talk there (where my phone can do it seemlessly in the google home app). It makes no sense and the previous thread acknowledged it was a bug so you spinning it as a feature is laughable
