Can’ add JBL Boombox 3 WiFi to a room in google home

Bogdandmb

Hello! I have a JBL Boombox 3 WiFi speaker and I cannot add it to a room in goggle home app. I mention that I had it in a room but google assistant couldn’t play music on Boombox anymore and I decided to delete it and restart all the configuration (speaker reboot, reconnect it with JBL ONE app and enable google cast, connecting to the same WiFi network as google home/assistant, etc). What else should I try to resolve this issue?

I forgot to mention that I can see the speaker on google home app, but only in section “Local devices”… and when I select the speaker there is no “Add to a room” button.

Hi Bogdandmb,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you need assistance adding your JBL Boombox to the Google Home app. I'm happy to help! To better understand the issue, could you please tell me if you've encountered any error messages or codes when attempting to add the device?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Hello and thank you for your reply!

I am not encountering any errors. However, after turning on the JBL Boombox 3 WiFi, I can see it in the “Devices” menu under the “Local devices” section, but the “Add to a room” button does not appear, so I cannot control it through Google Assistant. I should mention that I previously had it added to the “Living Room” and it was working fine until, at some point, I could no longer play music via Google Assistant (it wouldn’t execute the command). Because of this, I decided to remove it and add it again, but now I can no longer do so due to the issues mentioned above.

Hi Bogdandmb,

Thank you for your continued responses. I'm looking at how the device is connected in the app. I have a question: when you tap on the JBL Boombox in the Google Home app and you see the settings, does it give you the option to "remove device"?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Manuel

Hi Maedacortez,

As you can see in the first screenshot there are no settings button when I tap on JBL Boombox.

I only see the three dots in the top right corner, which only give me the options “Feedback” and “Help.” In fact, the JBL Boombox automatically appears in the Google Home app under the “Local Devices” section (see the second screenshot) as soon as I turn it on, and it disappears completely when I turn it off.

Hi Bogdandmb,

Thank you for your continued response. I recommend you try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home app to eliminate any potential bugs.

Please let me know if this helps.

Manuel

Hi Manuel!

I’ve already did that! Didn’t helped… unfortunately nothing has changed…

Hi Bogdandmb,

Thanks for trying. Now, I recommend you try the following steps to unlink the device. Please visit "Disconnect devices from the Google Home app," where you will find the steps. Then, try to relink to check if it works properly.

Let me know if this helps!

Manuel

Hi Manuel

The problem is that the JBL Boombox does not appear as linked.

I am attaching a screenshot below where you can see that it does not appear in the linked devices section.

Hi Bogdandmb,

Thank you for your continued posts. I have a question: have you tried using another cellphone device to check if the inconvenience persists? If so, please let me know.

I look forward to your response.
