Can't Play RTE Radio 1 on Nest Home

This week i have been unable to play RTE radio 1 on the Nest Home. It also won't let me cast RTE 1 from my phone to the Nest Home either. RTE radio 1 will play on my nest speakers and my LG chrome speakers. On the display, it brings up TuneIn and plays the "TuneIn" and then tries to load the station but then stops.

I have also tried to load all the other RTE stations and they haven't worked.

• What type of Google Nest speakers are affected by this?

Nest Home (1st Gen)

• What are the stations that are not working?

RTE Radio 1, RTE 2FM, RTE Lyric FM, RTE Gold, RTE Junior, RTE Radio na Gaelteachta, RTE Radio 1 Extra

• What stations are currently working?

Newstalk fm, Today fm etc

• Cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers

Can you provide more detailed feedback on what your team have actually done in terms of analysis? 

Logs - what are these saying?

Considering other replies in this thread re TuneIn and Irish Radioplayer apps - it looks like the problem is on the RTE side.

Has your team any view on this? It would be easy to determine if the issue is RTE's and that there may have been some modification their side, more than likely a third party does this work for them and they need to raise the issue with them. 

If Google can rule themselves out then people can start to press RTE on the issue.

The optics to me are that there may be no analysis done on your side and really you are just pushing the issue out and hoping it goes away. This may not be true, but its how it appears.

It would be good if you could share any insights your team has actually got, if any on this matter.

I think you are missing the point. No one is having issues with RTE on Tunein, that is working fine on multiple devices including Google devices. In the same way RTE is also working fine on the Irish radio player app. However neither app  is working on Google Nest for Rte stations.

you do seem to be missing the point it is the nest hub that the issue is with.  I have nest mini speakers and Amazon show devices TuneIn works on them all.  The issues are with Google nest hub and it's implementation of TuneIn.

I know how it feels when something isn’t working as it should, let’s get this resolved. A few things: Which Nest speaker? When you try to play other radio stations are they working? What steps have you tried so far?

Try to reboot your Nest speaker and WiFi router  to refresh both device and WiFi signal.

This issue is not resolved on my Nest Hub devices - I still can't stream or cast RTÉ stations.

This issue remains unresolved - it appears to affect Nest Hub devices only and RTÉ Radio only. As per my original post: I am also in Ireland; RTÉ Radio stations play fine on TuneIn on my phone and I can cast from TuneIn to my OG Google Home and Chromecast on my TV but not to my Nest Hub.

I received this today from RTE.

Unfortunately we're still waiting on updated timelines from Google or TuneIn for when this might be resolved. We're not aware of any changes in how RTÉ delivers it's audio and hope it can be resolved soon.

So it looks like the fix needs to come from Google or TuneIn..there were no changes on the rte end to cause this. Has there been any updates from Google or TuneIn to say what could have caused this issue ?

I mostly use the Irish Radioplayer app rather than TuneIn when I stream radio on my phone - I can cast Newstalk, Today FM, etc from Radioplayer to my Nest Hub, but not RTÉ, so this issue is not exclusive to TuneIn.

More importantly, my grandmother had 2 weeks of loving her new Google Nest device and is now very annoyed at how it stopped working. Please fix it soon!

As suggested in the recommended answer above I have used the device feedback to report this issue to Google, along with previous reports to RTÉ, TuneIn and Irish Radioplayer.

Incidentally, I tried casting the native RTÉ Radio 1 stream from the Chrome browser on my PC to my Nest Hub and Hub Max devices this evening and it worked. However, RTÉ TuneIn streams don't load at all in the browser, but Newstalk, Today FM, etc all work fine - RTÉ stations can be only played in a non-https pop-up player (with explanation here).
