Can’t Remove Content Filters

Mdkhomeowner
Community Member

Hopefully help is out there:  I can’t seem to remove content filters from my Google Home no matter what I do. I’ve tried every setting and ensured there was a no filters activated however I still can’t “Hey Google” some explicit songs from

Spotify. Every time I try I get the message of death saying it can’t play that song with content filters activated.   I do know the unit recognizes my voice so it’s not on some guest setting.

Any help appreciated

HI Mdkhomeowner,

To remove content filters from your Google Home and allow explicit songs to be played from Spotify, you can try the following steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Tap on your device.
  3. Tap on the gear icon in the top right corner to access your device settings.
  4. Scroll down to the "More" section and tap on "Settings".
  5. Scroll down to the "Services" section and tap on "Music".
  6. Tap on "Spotify".
  7. Tap on "Explicit content".
  8. Select "Allow explicit content".
  9. Save your changes and try playing the explicit song again.

If the above steps don't work, you can also try unlinking and relinking your Spotify account to your Google Home device. To do this, follow these steps:

  7. Tap on "Unlink account".
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to unlink your Spotify account.
  9. Once you have unlinked your account, repeat steps 1-6 and then tap on "Link account" to relink your Spotify account.
  10. Follow the on-screen instructions to relink your account.
  11. Try playing the explicit song again.

If you're still having trouble, you may want to contact Google or Spotify support for further assistance.

Hey Mdkhomeowner,

Thanks for reaching out, and I appreciate @AriefAnshori for helping here.

Please make sure to disable the filters from the Spotify app itself to be able to play explicit music on your Google Home device. If you have done this steps and still have the same issue, please share the specific title of the song so we can also try it on our devices.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Muddi

Hi Mdkhomeowner,

Thanks for checking. Could you tell us the specific command that you are using? Also, it is best if you could give us at least 3 songs that you're trying to play so we can try it here on our end.

Cheers,

Muddi

Thanks for the follow-up.

I had to unlink and link the app to get it to work finally.
