I am staying at a university accommodation and I cant connect my nest hub to the wifi. When I try to set it up, it does not detect the college wifi. I used a friend's phone to and set it up to my hotspot but I don't want use it that way since it costs me more, depletes my phone's battery and I have to reconnect every time time go out and come back. I have an ethernet cable port in my room but I don't know how to connect the nest hub through that. Any suggestions?

Hello Mils,
Thanks for visiting the Community.
Please note that Google Home and Google Nest devices are not compatible with college WiFi because some if these WiFi systems are using a captive portal that will require you to log in on a website to gain access.
As a workaround, you can check with whoever manages your WiFi if they have a process to whitelist your device. They do this by allowing the unique MAC address of the device. Not all providers will be set up to do this however. In addition, even this may not work on some WiFi networks, as the the administrator may have enabled a security feature called client isolation, which prevents different devices from communicating with each other (i.e. your phone communicating with your device).
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Muddi
