Can't enable Personal Results

TimBriggs
Community Member

I'm trying to enable personal results to let my nest mini speaker make phone calls for me. When I try to make a call it tells me I have to enable personal results. I go into google home app and click on Dining Room Speaker > settings > Recognition & sharing > Personal results (which says Off). This opens a page that says "Install the Google app To get the latest google assistant features, install the Google app. This is where my problem starts.

I click Install, it opens the Goggle Play (store?). The name just says Google and underneath Google LLC with install button. Underneath that it says "Similar app already installed -Google Go". If I hit install it downloads then pops up with a message saying "Can't install Google. Try again, and if it doesn't work see common ways to fix the problem."

Send Feedback or Understood are the only options.

Help me please!

Android ver 10

SOLVED(?) Tracked down this little nugget. Guess my phone is too cheap only 2 gig ram.

Your phone may not support the full Google app. Many "entry level" phones run a "lite" edition of Android and have Google Go pre-installed. Such phones will not run the Google app.

To support the Google app your device needs to be running the full Android operating system (not the Go edition), version 8 or later, and have at least 4 GB of RAM.

Hi again,

It is the Google Home app and not the Google app where I find this setting.

If you are still having issues then maybe you could use a friend's or family members device to alter this setting for your speaker or display as this is a setting that once changed will carry on working without a mobile device connected.

Regards,
Cathal

Hi there,

You can adjust your 'personal results' within the 'settings' section of the Google Home app.

Have a look at the Google Nest help center link below and let us know if you have any further questions.

All the different ways of turning on personal results, results in it saying Install the Google App. Install opens the Goggle Play (store?). Factory reset works, but when I set up the software on my phone I eventually get to a stage where it says Install the app which always takes me to play store and not letting me install/update or whatever. Hitting "not now" lets me use the speaker for youtube, google search etc, just can't turn on personal results! Super frustrating. Should I try and get rid of google go somehow? ; and if so how to do that?
