I have 2 Google Home, 2 Google Home Mini and 2 Google Chromecast Audio (and a Google TV Chromecast).
Everything worked fine until I updated the Firmware of my Router Asus RT-AC88U to the latest update. After a day or two the Devices started disappearing from the Home App and not playing my music anymore (They were all in one Group). Now only two of the speakers are still in the Google Home App and are actually playing music.
The Router is set up for a 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network with the same name, so the devices choose whatever works better. This has all worked before.
I cannot make them reappear in the App. I always get an error message saying the device was setup but can't be found (screenshot below).
I tried a lot of things:
I have not yet tried
As I am writing this the speaker which I just moved near the router, decided to magically continue the setup process like 30 minutes later when I moved it back (I did get the error message, so I thought it didn't work at first).
I don't know if it was the connecting to the temporary wi-fi or the moving it near the router, but I see it in the App now.
Strangely now my Group is all gone... So I set up the Group again and now the Group is all messed up. It is showing the speaker in the Group together with the two that were showing before, but now the freshly setup speaker is working but a speaker that was working before is not playing anymore.
What a mess.
It seems I have to factory reset all of my 6 devices and really clean up.
Anyway I still post this, in case someone has a similar problem and in case it gets more messed up...
Error message I got when I did a factory reset:

Day 2 of trying setup my Google Home devices again.
I had the most success moving the devices to the same room the where the router. Still I had problems with my Groups not working and the devices completely stop to work when moving them back to a different room.
Because distance seems to matter I decided to try splitting the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network to two separate SSIDs. I left the existing SSID for the 2.4Ghz (longer range), so my devices would connect to this.
Now it works a lot better, but I need to be connected to the 2.4Ghz network to be able to connect to the devices. After like 30 minutes all my devices are playing music, so at least all speakers are working again.
Consisting issues
It's at least is a workaround I can live with for now. Not ideal, but at least more stable.
