Can't set up new Nest Hub

Quixii
Community Member

I just got a new nest hub. With the whole kerfuffle lately, apparently I have to now use the Device Utility app. The Google Home app finds the new nest hub immediately. The device utility app doesn't seem to be finding the nest hub. It just spends minutes and minutes saying that it's searching for devices. This means I can't set up my new device. What do I do?

Hi Quixii,

Thanks for letting us know about this.

Sorry to hear about your experience on setting up your Google Nest Hub. Let's check these things first before we try some steps.

  • Latest version of the Google Home app.
  • Latest version of the Google Assistant app.
  • Google Account.
  • A mobile phone or tablet that:
    • Has iOS 13.0 or later/Android 6.0 or later.
    • Works with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi network (a WPA-2 Enterprise network won't work).
    • Has Bluetooth turned on.

Also, I'd like to know if there are other Google Home/Nest speakers connected to the same WiFi network? Let's make sure that the distance of the Google Nest Hub that you are trying to set up is within 10-15 feet from the router for better connection.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Princess
