Cannot cast to different devices from different phones wihtout stopping casting on one

Ever since a few updates back, whenever my wife is casting music from her phone to any of our google home/nest mini devices, when I open my Youtube music app, it automatically connects to the device in use, and it is showing what is being cast. If I want to listen to music on my headphones, or cast on any other device inside the home, I have to first Stop casting on the initial device. Which leads to that device stopping music playback. We are using different google accounts.

Hi devilpriest,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing when playing music on your Google Home devices. Let’s do some troubleshooting steps:

  • Open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap one of your Google Home devices > Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  • Go back to the Devices tab and scroll down to Other Cast/Local Devices. Tap the Google Home device you removed > Add to a room.
  • Reboot your Google Home and then monitor if the same issue happens. If so, factory reset the same device and then setup.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Alex
