Cannot change volume on connected devices

EthNick

Hi,

As of roughly 6 weeks ago, I noticed some of my voice commands weren’t being recognised when they were in the past.

I’ve managed to come up with new phrases for most of them, but one of the more common commands - changing volume - is still not working.

I have a Harmony Hub where I have Activities programmed, so if I tell the Google Assistant (either via the Nest Mini or phone App) “Foxtel”, it turns on my TV, Foxtel (satellite) box & AVR.

I used to then be able to tell my Nest Mini/App to “increase/decrease Foxtel volume” & it would correctly change the volume of the AVR.

Now when I say the same command (or anything similar) via the Nest Mini, the volume of the Nest Mini speaker is changed. & when I say the same command via the App, the volume of the tablet where the App is on is changed.

It’s like it can no longer see any devices when it comes to changing the volume. But the strange thing is, when I say “Mute/unmute Foxtel”, it works on both the Nest Mini & the App.

I think a Google Assistant software update from 6-8 weeks ago has altered voice commands which is very frustrating.

At the very least, when a voice command is changed, the Assistant should tell the user what the new phrase is to perform the action rather than not responding at all or replying with a “sorry, I don’t know what you mean”…

Is Google aware of this Google Assistant volume bug & are there plans to fix it?

We hope you were able to get the help you need. If you still need assistance controlling the volume of your Nest speakers, feel free to submit another post and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand.
